Medium Art Center - Haunted Art Exhibition by Cindy Webb

A young woman viewing my recent photo

This first friday was the "Haunted" art exhibition at the medium art center. It was such a great event with a lot of spooky and unique pieces. I was also fortunate to have one of mine displayed and sold as well. I really enjoy the monthly themes the art center has in their call for entries and getting inspired by them.

My piece, "Ghosted"

About this photo:

"Ghosted" explores the modern experience of being "ghosted," when communication abruptly stops over text and someone disappears from your life forever without explanation. The sign "seen at 10:31 PM" points to the exact moment the last text message is read but left unanswered, while also referencing 10/31, Halloween, tying this digital-age experience to the familiar imagery of ghosts.

I also took some photos of artwork from the event. Here are a few of my favorites among all of the amazing artwork.

You can check out all of the pieces at medium art center in Ukiah until November 1st! Keep an eye out for their next call for entry on their website if you want to enter your own work. They also hold very fun events with live music now and then too that are worth checking out!

Medium Art Center - Mixtape (A Juried art exhibition) by Cindy Webb

I was very grateful to be part of this art exhibition recently! Here is a bit more about it:

Mixtape is a juried group exhibition showcasing visual artwork inspired by a favorite song title or lyric, any genre, any era, any mood.

This was my first time having any photo I have taken on display in a gallery, so it was definitely a feeling I will remember.

My printed photo on display:

Digital version:

"Back in time" was inspired by a song called "Obstacles" by Syd matters. The song reflects on life as an adult and has a feeling of nostalgia. This photo aims to capture a longing for help to return to a simpler time while feeling lost as an adult.

I discovered this song while playing the video game, Life is Strange (2015) which had a great impact on me for a mix of reasons, but mostly identifying with the main character, Max Caulfield. Max Caulfield is an introverted photography student from a small coastal town who discovers she can rewind time. I relate to her in a lot of ways—growing up in a small coastal town myself, loving photography, and being more introverted and reflective on life. The video game itself explores some dark themes which can be disturbing, but I feel overall is well written and has a great soundtrack.

It was really cool to see other people’s artwork on display and how they got inspired by music too. Here are a couple of others on display that I really enjoyed

There are many more amazing works in the exhibition to see, and all works will be on display at the Medium art center in Ukiah until September 27th, 2025.
